Ramsey Pavilion had a score to settle this week as they travelled to a Little Downham Swifts side that had won 13 from 13 so far this season including 6-2 win at Cricketfield Lane back in December.
Despite a first half that the Pavo's just edged, they went in to the break a goal down. Into the second half and, against the run of play the league leaders went two goals to the good with about 30 minutes left to play. The introductions of Kyle McPartlin, Jamie Perry, and Jamie Hurst made all the difference however, as the Pavo's once again proved their strength in depth and resilience. Jake Burton and Kyle McPartlin combined well to reduce the deficit with 20 minutes to go before Jake Burton himself levelled matters with 5 minutes left on the clock. Ramsey almost snatched a victory in the dying minutes as Tom Lloyd’s shot struck the crossbar but the game ended in a draw, two goals apiece.
Player / Manager Matt Brading said afterwards “We have dominated the game today with their ‘keeper having an outstanding game. However, to come from two down with 20 minutes to go against a team who have played 13 and won 13 shows what we are all about. Big hearts and a great attitude shown. A very proud gaffer this weekend.”
Next up for Ramsey Pavilion is a home fixture against Wimblington FC, a side with whom they draw 4-4 with earlier in the season. It should be a cracker as The Pavos look to continue their push for promotion.
